Research Institute Brainclinics was founded in 2001 as an independent research institute, specialised in advancing the understanding of psychiatric disorders through brain imaging (QEEG, ERPs), chronobiology and sleep, Research Domain Criteria (RDoC), which knowledge should aid in a future of personalised medicine in mental health. Brainclinics is further specialised in the development and application of neuromodulation techniques such as neurofeedback in the treatment of ADHD and magnetic brain stimulation (rTMS) in the treatment of depression and OCD. In 2019 the non-profit Brainclinics Foundation was established and Research Institute Brainclinics as well as the publishing division Brainclinics Insights fall under this foundation.
Under the same name, Psychology Practice Brainclinics was founded in 2006. In this clinic new innovative treatments (neuromodulation techniques) were pioneered such as rTMS (Brain stimulation) in the treatment of depression (since 2006), OCD and Neurofeedback in the treatment of ADHD.
